The History of the
Guide to Natural Swimming Holes

In 2002 Albert Miller researched and published the first edition of Guide to Natural Swimming Holes. When he retired he passed the GUIDE on to me. Today the Guide to Natural Swimming Holes's 4th Edition has been updated and published by Elizabeth Whitley of Catalyst Graphics.
I have taken the opportunity to build on the GUIDE. With more than 20 new prospective holes to research and document, the pawpies and I are in for a very busy summer. I continue to update information on the holes in the 4th Edition and when I have enough new information I will release new editions periodically.
If you see me out there on the rivers with my pawpies, Rhody and Jasper, camera ‘round my neck and GPS in hand, say hello.
The GUIDE contains directions to many of the finest swimming holes in Humboldt County.
Hikers of all ages and abilities can experience the crystal clear rock-bottom rivers within an hour's drive of Highway 101 in Humboldt County.
With the GUIDE you can set yourself on a pristine sandy beach next to tranquil gently rushing waters under the swaying branches of the Redwoods. Get wet and “mellow” and shed the worries of the world.
